What is the DSA (Direct Selling Association)?
The Direct Selling Association (DSA) is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Approximately 200 companies are members of the association, including many well-known brand names.
The Association's mission is "To protect, serve and promote the effectiveness of member companies and the independent business consultants they represent. To ensure that the marketing by member companies of products and/or the direct sales opportunity is conducted with the highest level of business ethics and service to consumers."
The cornerstone of the Association's commitment to ethical business practices and consumer service is its Code of Ethics. Every member company pledges to abide by the Code's standards and procedures as a condition of admission and continuing membership in the Association.
What is Direct Selling?
Direct selling is the person-to-person (or word of mouth) sale of a consumer service or product away from a fixed retail location, marketed through independent affiliates who are sometimes also referred to as consultants, distributors or other titles.
Just about any product or service can be purchased or sold through direct selling around the world. Many people think of cosmetics, wellness products and home décor as products that are often sold through direct sales, but there are many other categories including kitchen products, jewelry, clothing, spa products and in the case of GDI, domains, hosting and marketing tools.
GDI is a Member of the DSA
Being a member of the Direct Selling Association is an accomplishment that is earned over time as a result of outstanding business ethics, reliable services and professional accountability. This means you can be assured the utmost level of reliability, stability and trustworthiness when conducting and sharing your online fundraising venture with the members of your community.
Why isn't GDI a member of the BBB (Better Business Bureau)?
Many direct selling companies, including GDI's compertitors, choose not to become BBB accredited as it is a voluntary process that carries fees. The BBB has still rated GDI and you'll find the results very interesting. In addition, many direct selling companies associate with an organization the BBB announced a partnership with, the Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF), a brand created by leaders of the DSA. The DSA is the original direct selling authoritative figure and for that reason GDI subjected its operations to their scrutinous supervisions proudly earning their affiliation.
